Sometimes, simplicity calls me to it. A retreat where my frantic quest for the visible and invisible must subside. Armed with a simple pencil, pen or palette of a few colors, I obey nature’s call. I let my gaze linger on an object, a tree, a landscape – on things that arouse feelings in me, that leave a sensory, tactile or emotional I have to welcome this impression, unfold it, listen to it and grasp its form, movement, details and energy. Without preconceived ideas, I imprint a state, returning to it again and again. The invisible resides in the visible, sometimes perceptible in moments of silence, drawing being only an instrument to touch it.
